This mobile was a present for a dear friend of mine, Jane. She is 32 weeks pregnant and has decided to not find out the gender of the baby. Her dad is a sheep farmer so I though that a sheep mobile would suit. She loved it =)

odds and ends
I know that it has been a little while since I last blogged, but as you know (the two people who ever read my blog) Grace arrived on the 1st June at 15:23. She is such a delight and being a parent is the most awesome thing.
I had a lot of time in the few days that preceded her birth, and this is what was made.
A friend of mine made a tree for her son that was stuck on the wall with leaves that came under the shelf for him to look at when being changed. I made her a few bees to add and promised myself I'd make something similar when I had a child. So Grace has flowers, leaves and bees. I really like it =)

Then - I decided to add a little detail to two of her little vests. I used my Silhouette cutter to create the template and then ironed the rhinestones on. The 'Angel' was a template downloaded from the Silhouette website and 'Grace' was made from scratch. It was so much fun and I'm considering making them to order. will keep you posted.
that's it for now...

giving
As I am sure that there is something in Cape Town's water that has resulted in MANY pregnancies (some blame it on the recession?!?), I find myself creating more and more. I always love giving hand created goodies rather than shop-bought ones... not that I don't like receiving the latter =)
My last project was for a friend of mine, Gezell, who is expecting twin girls. she has named them Gabriella and Isabella. She recently told me that she was looking for lettering for the walls of her nursery but apart from the price of them, she couldn't find ones that she liked. She has decided to use "Issey" and "Gabby" for short so I created her some out of cardboard and Royal Coat's Dimensional Magic. I LOVE this product.

I will hopefully blog again soon with the airplane mobile I made for Lara...

... Creating
I know that it's been an absolute age since I last blogged. Being pregnant has consumed so much of my energy (literally) but at least I have still made time to be creative!
So here are my latest projects. As you can see they are for Grace's room. Little things that I knew I wanted to make for her and refused to buy =).
A Bird Mobile
I wish that I could say that I came up with the pattern all on my own, but I can't. I had the idea and tried to make one from how I thought it should be, but then found this one at Quill Cottage and just had to use it!!
Granny Squares Blanket
This project took me forever but it was fun to do. I used 100% pure bamboo wool which is heavy and soft. I considered making it bigger so that I could use it for myself, but too much love and time went into it. I am sure that Grace will love it.

'Doughnut'
It still confuses me why they have named these 'doughnuts'. They are not round and do not have a hole in the middle! The purpose of this is so that Grace can play on the floor and not roll off the edges or fall over if she is sitting in it. It's really like a thick blanket with stuffed edges. I've seen them being used by other mom's and they really seem to work... so here goes...
